DOJO INFORMATION

Fordbridge are now using our Dojo system to help you stay informed on how well your child is doing in school,

a quick way for you to communicate with your child’s teacher and a new, exciting style of homework!

Dojo will be used for the following:

Children will be able to access home learning daily.

Homework

 In year3 homework will be set on Fridays

  and needs to be completed by the following Wednesday.

 to keep you informed on what we are learning in class.

Our new theme this term is 

Stone Age

Year 3 had great fun being archaeologists.

They unearthed some interesting  items including flint, bones, jewellery and  animal skin.

  

  

 

As part of our Hub activity Yr3 had to dissect Organic remains(Poo)

to work out which time period it was from and what their diet was like.

   

 

The Archaeologists discovered berries, seeds and fish bones.

SCIENCE

 

    

   

As part of  our Animals including Humans topic

yr3 had a fascinating afternoon 

investigating Owl Pellets.

 

Our science topic 

Year 3 will be investigating

Forces and Magnets 

 

 

In our first Forces and Magnets lesson

yr3 investigated

which surface needed the most pull force to move a toy car.

 

This week we investigated how many paper clips

  

we could attach to different magnets. 

                                       

    Our Spring term Science Theme is

Rocks and Soils

 

 

First day of our spring term

 and the children are all ready and eager

 to investigate and look at different rocks.

 

  

 

 Yr3 have been investigating soil

 using different cereals to represent each of the different layers.    

 

 

Continuing with our soil theme

Yr3 had great fun making their own mini compost bins.

 

 

Our theme this term is

Light

 

 

Using different resources yr3 children had great fun investigating light

and how shadows are created.

   

 

Our theme for the Summer Term is

Animal Homes

Over the next half term, we will be looking at the religion of Christianity

 focusing on the questions

What is the true meaning of Christmas and what does Christmas mean to us?

CHILDREN CAN EARN DOJOS WHEN HANDING IN COMPLETED HOMEWORK. 

HOMEWORK BOOKS WILL BE GIVEN OUT ON FRIDAYS AND THEY WILL BE COLLECTED IN ON WEDNESDAYS.

 

 

READING!!

 

READING EVERY DAY IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF LEARNING

 

 

All books and diaries need to be in on Wednesday.

Children will be able to earn a dojo point for every day they read

they will also be able to change their book on this day.  

Children must remember to read for at least 10minutes each day.

An adult must comment and sign the diaries to say they have read.

Children can read any books at home or access Oxford Reading Buddies.

These can be recorded in the reading diary in the usual way.

 

 

 

CHILDREN WILL EARN A DOJO EVERY TIME THEY READ.

 

WHEN YOUR CHILD HAS READ 25 BOOKS THEY WILL RECEIVE A BRONZE CERTIFICATE.

 

WHEN YOUR CHILD HAS READ 50 BOOKS THEY WILL RECEIVE A SILVER .CERTIFICATE.

 

WHEN YOUR CHILD HAS READ 100 BOOKS THEY WILL RECEIVE A GOLD CERTIFICATE.

 

AND AT 125 BOOKS YOUR CHILD WILL RECEIVE A DIAMOND CERTIFICATE

PLUS A GIFT FROM SCHOOL.
