Religious Education
At Fordbridge, our vision for Religious Education is that our children learn about religious and non-religious belief systems in a creative, engaging and inspiring way.
It plays a vital role in shaping our pupils’ spiritual, moral, cultural and social development. In line with Fundamental British Values and our own golden values of resilience, respect, reliability and responsibility, we aspire for Fordbridge children to understand, appreciate and respect similarities and differences between religious and world views.
By making sense of beliefs, making connections with beliefs and understanding the impact on their communities, our children can make personal links and share their views in a respectful and informed way.
We follow the Jigsaw RE scheme (2025). Working with their expert professionals, we have researched and designed our curriculum to cover religious and non-religious belief systems in detail, overtime progressively developing a deep understanding of beliefs, traditions and concepts for different groups of people.
What will children learn about?
- Christianity is taught in each year group.
- Judaism
- Islam
- Hinduism
- Sikhism
- Humanism
Throughout their Fordbridge journey, children have the opportunity to learn about and experience significant places and individuals by visiting different places of worship linked to the religions they are learning about in their year group. During religious school visits, children will explore a variety of places, artefacts, objects and texts with the support of faith and non-faith leaders, bringing the learning to life as we nurture curious minds, reflective learners and compassionate hearts.
All Parents / Carers have the right to withdraw their child from the RE curriculum. If this is something that you wish to consider, then please speak to the Phase Leader or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
