Year 5

Welcome to Year Five

 

We would like to thank all children for starting the term, enthusiastic and ready to learn. The children all look very smart in their uniform and black shoes. Please keep it up.

 

Your teachers in Year 5 are Mrs Boswell and Mrs Hemphill.

Our Year group is supported by our Teaching Assistant - Mrs Dipple

If you have any queries please don't hesitate to speak to one of us. We will be happy to help.

COMPUTING COMPETITION

The house competition this half-term will be Computing. The challenge is for children to create a scene(Phase 1), or animation (Phase 2 and 3) based around their favourite book.

 

  • Children can log onto Scratch using username: fbcomp; password: fbscratch
  • They name their projects with their first name, first initial and year (Joe G, Year 6)
  • The deadline will be Friday 2nd February.

  Homework

This weeks homework is Maths - please encourage your child to complete this ready for Wednesday.

 

Homework will be given out on a Friday and collected in on a Wednesday. 

Spellings will be handed out on a Monday and children will be tested on their spellings on a Friday.

This week year 5 have been learning about habitats and how to identify them, they had a wonderful time.

        

 

        

 

Year 5 would like to introduce you to Jez.  He will be our jigsaw piece for our PSHE lessons, he will be helping us with our thoughts and feelings every week.

READING!!!!

 

Can all children please remember to read their school books every night for at least 10 minutes! An adult must comment and sign the child's reading diary to say they have read.  Children will be rewarded with dojo's daily.

! Water Bottles !

We would like all children to have an appropriate bottle containing water in school daily.

COLDER WEATHER!!

As The Colder Weather Is Now Approaching, Please Can We Remember Suitable Clothing! Coats, Hats, Scarfs, Gloves and Suitable Shoes.

Important Notice!

Please can you remember to inform the office staff if any one different is picking up your child from school, many thanks.

 

A few Important Messages!

  • Can all children please be in school in suitable black shoes  and complete uniform grey skirt/trousers or dress, white shirt,and burgundy jumper/cardigan.
  • In order to keep head lice at bay please check you ​ child nearly every day  

 

In school as part of our PSHE scheme we will be discussing the importance of the PANTS rule with all children
